Who am I?

So, a quick biography of who I am, from the very beginning...

I was born in March 1988, when Kylie's I should be so lucky was at No. 1 - A good omen straight away then if the title is anything to go by, as for the song though... the less said the better I think!

I was raised in the small town of Kennoway where I attended Kennoway Primary and Community School and met some great friends, many of whom I still keep in contact with whenever I can.

I was a big fan of Batman as a kid and still have the dressing up gear and embarrassing photos to prove it - None of which, by the way, will ever find their way onto here!

I then went on to Buckhaven High School which, at the time, didn't have the greatest of reputations. My parents had given me the option to go elsewhere but I wouldn't have it. The prospect of going up to high school was frightening enough without even considering being away from my friends. By the time I left the school in the year 2000 though, it had made a complete turnaround and was fast becoming the 'school to be at'.

I made it successfully through high school, being labelled as SWOT for having never received a single set of lines, a term I would come to use many many times at uni, though in a completely different context - Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

I had managed to do reasonably well at BHS and had a few conditional offers for university. I wanted to get onto the Information Systems course at Napier but, sadly, just missed the condition they had set me. I thought I would call anyway, just to make sure, and was pleased to be informed that they had given me a place regardless - Thanks Kylie!

I moved to Edinburgh for the duration of my course, settling in well with a couple of great flatmates. We stuck together pretty much all the way through and managed to give each other that little extra nudge whenever it was needed.

For my 3rd year I was given the choice to do a 1 year work placement. Knowing it would be a great opportunity, I jumped at the chance and landed what I can only assume was the best placement on offer by far, working in the Apps Service Management Team at the University of Edinburgh - Thanks again Kylie!

I went back to Uni after my placement, finding it hard to settle back into the student life. I eventually managed to get into it though and produced my honours dissertation, all 150+ pages of it, finishing my course with a 2:1 honours degree.

I spent just over a month on the job market before getting my a job at i-design plc in Dundee. In January 2012 I finished up at i-design and started in my current position as a Service Coordinator at The University of Edinburgh.

More to come as things move on...
